EUGENE, OR - "Charlotte's Web," a highly costumed and energetic stage production, continues through October 20 at Lane Community College.
This story by E.B. White has been part of the American culture since 1952. The theatrical version features a huge barn as the set and all the beloved characters are there—Charlotte A. Cavatica, the heroic spider, Wilbur the lovable pig, and Templeton the mischievous rat—each in fanciful costumes.
Eugene Weekly calls the production "a high-energy play full of humor and action" and says "the animals clearly steal the show."
In a unique move, director Judith "Sparky" Roberts cast some local veterans as talent and offers a subtle message about sacrifice for the well being of others. The Register-Guard profiled a couple of the veterans in the production in its Sept. 24 advance review, online.
The age limit for children has been lowered to age 6 to allow more families to see the show. Kids and adults alike love the fanciful costumes.
