Eugene, OR - The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) is sponsoring a new Small Business Management program for government contractors, at the Lane Community College Small Business Development Center (LCC SBDC). The program starts 6-9 p.m., Mon., Sep. 24 and runs through Nov 26, 2012. Each class is devoted to small business management topics; how to do business with and create effective bids for ODOT; understanding ODOT-specific issues; as well as peer group discussions. The program instructor/advisor, Suzanne Penegor, is a former business owner in the transportation and wood products industry. Penegor, and other experienced professionals, will provide one-on-one confidential business advising to participants, at no additional cost.
Registrations for the ODOT Small Business Management program are being accepted now. The reduced registration fee is only $200! (That's less than $10 an hour for the class time alone.) A second person from one business can attend for only $150. Similar programs cost $1700. This program is too good to miss! Limited registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Only eligible firms, who meet the criteria, and send in their application and registration fees, will be accepted. For eligibility, a company must meet the following criteria: It must be certified as an Emerging Small Business (ESB), Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE), Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), or Women Business Enterprise (WBE). The company must also be capable of performing an ODOT contract (construction or support services that may be associated with transportation or its related services or facilities).
