Black Student Union sponsors African American history events Feb. 25 and 26

EUGENE, OR – Students from the Lane Community College Black Student Union are honoring the history of Black Americans this month. The BSU is sponsoring two events to highlight African American creativity.Teju the Storyteller

Teju Ologboni will perform Friday, Feb. 24, from 5-8 pm in the Longhouse, Building 31, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, Eugene. Olabongi brings to life the spirit of Africa through words, dance and music. A light meal will be offered.

SALUT: Celebrating African American Musicians of the 20th Century, will be held Sunday, Feb. 26, from 4-5 p.m. in the Ragozzino Performance Hall, Building 6. This special performance features members of the BSU in partnership with the African American special emphasis unit of the VA Roseburg Healthcare System, to salute African American military service as well as celebrate the accomplishments of African American musicians of the 20th century.

Both of these events are open to the public and free of charge. Donations can be made to the BSU Foundation/BSU Scholarship Fund by contacting Tina Lymath at lymatht@lanecc.edu
