Lane Preview Night Feb. 22 offers glimpse into college

EUGENE, OR – Lane Community College will hold its annual open house for prospective high school students and their families, Lane Preview Night , on Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 6-8 p.m. in the Building 5 Gymnasium, main campus, 4000 E. 30th Avenue, Eugene.Ty the Titan Mascot and friend at Preview Night 2011

"This is a great opportunity to meet Lane faculty and staff, find out more about our academic transfer or career and technical programs, and learn why so many students choose Lane to achieve their dreams in higher education," says John Hamblin, director of Enrollment and Student Financial Services/Registrar.

Tentative Schedule of Activities:

5:45 p.m., Lane Preview Night check-in, gym lobby. Sign up for a prize drawing for sweatshirts, backpacks and more, and pick up an agenda.

6-7:30 p.m., Information Fair, gym. Faculty and staff from academic transfer programs, career and technical programs, and student support resources will be available to answer questions and provide information. Breakout sessions include an open lab on filling out admissions and FAFSA financial aid applications; disability resources information on transitioning from high school to college; information on placement exams in reading, writing and math; information about Learning Communities that ease a student's transition into college by linking faculty and classes together with the same students; and how to transfer to a four-year college or university. Sessions also will be offered in Spanish.

Lane Community College is a comprehensive community college offering two-year associate degrees and one-year certificates in a variety of instructional programs. Students can earn an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree and continue their education, or prepare for career in more than 40 occupations. Lane also offers continuing education noncredit courses, foundational academic and language programs, business development services and custom workforce training, and cultural and community services. Classes are available at main campus and other Eugene locations, in Florence and Cottage Grove, and online.
