LCC to host Oregon Transfer Days Jan. 31

EUGENE, OR - In an effort to assist Oregon community college students successfully transition to a four-year college or university, colleges and universities collaborate each year on a statewide tour to all 17 Oregon community colleges for Oregon Transfer Days, a chance for students and parents to meet with college and university representatives and learn about each campus's offerings, admissions requirements, costs and financial aid, and more. Students are encouraged to join in these fun, informative events, whether they are actively planning to transfer, or just starting to consider their four-year degree opportunities.image of poster

Locally, Oregon Transfer Days will be Tuesday, January 31, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Lane Community College main campus, Center Building cafeteria.

For disability accommodations, contact Center for Accessible Resources at (541) 463-5150 or (541) 463-3079 (TTY) at least one week in advance.

Oregon Transfer Days is a partnership of Oregon's public and private colleges and universities who share a common goal of helping students succeed in the exciting transition to four-year colleges and universities. Thousands of students make the transition each year. At Oregon's public universities, the numbers of community college students transferring increased by 80% percent in the last 10 years, from 3,634 in 2000-01 to 6,541 in 2010-11. This can be attributed to new partnerships, including co-enrollment and articulation agreements between community colleges and universities; new options such as the Oregon Transfer Module, which enable students to ensure that their credits will apply at a four-year institution; and a greater recognition that a four-year degree provides additional opportunities in the job market.

Oregon Transfer Days is administered by a task force of Oregon Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. For more information contact Judy Rocha at rochaj@lanecc.edu or call (541)-463-3420 or go online at http://oracrao.org/oregon-transfer-days
