NASA Trip
- Chuck: Planning trip next term to Seattle with the other student unions
- Plan: Currently a day trip, leaving in the evening stay night in Seattle, spend day on activities visiting cultural museums
- Colette: Could we find a Longhouse, on the way or up there, to visit?
- Nayma: might be hard to leave the evening before, have enough time to really see anything, then come right back (5hr drive one way)
- Check into possibility of staying two nights
- Money: Chuck -$500 could come from Council of Clubs, Phil-$ available from ASLCC too, because of being a Union Trip - IF open to all students
- Date: Chuck- End of May, early June
- Nayma: Lanestock June 3rd
- Katie & Vickie: Mothers day in May [Sunday the 8th]
- James Lane: Would like to make a political stop in Salem (consensus is this would be better served by planning a rally on a separate day)
- Vicky: Is Seattle set? What about Bend or the CoastChuck: looked at Portland, not many cultural activities; Another location is a possibility
- Tabled: Discussion will continue after the break
- Volunteers:Nayma: Hotels, Hostels, costs
- Vicky: Seattle museums, Longhouses, cultural events
- Collette: Mileage & driving costs; talk to Tina about Longhouse/Potluck opportunities
- Carmella: Food restaurants (budget $10/br-lunch & $15 dinner per person)
Frybread Sales
- Next month, $4 Indian Taco ($2 frybread?)
- Gonna do presales and deliver
- Chuck: Need to see when can get enough volunteers to deliver the bread & that will determine time of sale
- Nayma: Can we figure out a way to sell tickets to students, like in the cafeteria, too and have a time they can come down to the Longhouse and eat; opens up the sale to more money and students being able to buy an indian taco too
- Chuck: Have done the serving thing before
- Issue before: Kitchen doesn't want open fire cooking up there
- Issues now: Students have to come all way down to Longhouse to eat; Sales have to happen outside of the Longhouse
- Colette: What if we leave it open to students to come to the Longhouse and eat, and charge a little more for delivery, to whoever wants it
- Chuck: How about if we make the frybread here and sell the tacos and fixings in the cafeteria AND deliver to the people who want that
- Consensus: Good compromise, workable plan; solves kitchen issue with frying frybread outside of cafeteria and opens sale up to more people, plus cafeteria is more central location for eating
- Chuck: Maybe we could get other groups to help to raise money for the trip
- Vickie: What about people who help but can't go? How do they benefit?
- Nayma: They're doing it for the good of all
- Phil: Recruitment and visibility opportunity for NASA and the clubs; May also raise more money than just for the trip
- Vickie: I volunteer to be a frybread student. Katie shouldn't have to do it all by herself
- James Lane: does NASA have non-profit #?
- Chuck: not sure
- Colette: Umbrella'd under LCC
- Phil: Non-profit by definition
- Vickie: What about people who help but can't go? How do they benefit?
Meeting during Deadweek?
- Yes
Longhouse Potlucks
- Colette: Still going to happen?
- Nayma: I would like to see them happen. NASA did potlucks for years would be nice to do them again
- Chuck: Concerned about meeting before the Potluck making too long an evening
- Nayma: seems like that would work good, though we'll all be hungry by the time we're done
- Chuck: That is if we're still meeting at the same time
- Karen asked if NASU meets same day as their potluck: She thought not anymore, but they are not very active recently period
- Consensus: Potlucks yes, still need to discuss time but first have to decide NASA meeting times for next term
- Colette: Would like to see Potlucks as major marketing opportunity for students for LCC recruitment to NASA. Wants to figure out concrete plans for getting the word out there
WE WILL HAVE A WELCOME BACK POTLUCK AT OUR FIRST MEETING BACK... TIME TBA
