Instructional Testing Services Policies

No cell phones, laptops or electronic devices are allowed in the Testing Center testing rooms.

Notecard Policy:

IF YOU ALLOW STUDENTS TO USE A NOTECARD as a testing aide during an exam, then one 3x5 notecard (both sides) is the standard used for testing in the ITS Testing Center. If students are allowed to use one 3 x 5 notecard, then include the statement, "One 3 x 5 notecard allowed," in the Quiz Description Box under, "Edit Settings" in MOODLE.

We do not proctor open book exams.

Dictionary Policy:

ESL students will be provided with a paper version of a translation dictionary, upon request. Students should check at least one week in advance to be sure we have a translation dictionary in the language needed.

If students are not allowed to use any translation dictionaries, then please include the statement, "No translation dictionaries allowed, in the Quiz Description Box under, "Edit Settings" in MOODLE.

No electronic dictionaries are allowed without written permission via Email from the Instructor to the Testing Coordinator.

Calculator Policy:

For exams allowing a calculator, please specify what type of calculator is allowed.

We have some simple calculators available for student use.

If simple calculators are all that is needed, then please have students use these staff issued calculators, and indicate in in the Quiz Description Box under, "Edit Settings" in MOODLE. that staff should give students a simple calculator to use during testing.

If students are allowed to use their own calculators, then specify that no cell phones are allowed and tell students that they must show calculators to testing staff prior to testing.

Scratch Paper Policy:

Scratch paper will be provided if needed.  Students must turn in all scratch paper to testing staff.

If students are supposed to show work on scratch paper and hand it in to staff after testing, then please include these instructions in your Quiz Description Box under, "Edit Settings" in MOODLE.

Written Test Policies:

Note: Starting Fall 2015, we are transitioning to computerized testing.  Please contact the Academic Technology Center or the Testing Coordinator if you need help getting your exams in an online format for testing.

WRITTEN TESTS for which NOTECARDS are ALLOWED must be printed on light blue paper.

Deliver WRITTEN TESTS to Testing Coordinator in CENTER 311, at least two days prior to when you will be sending  students to take the exam.

Fill out the Test Pull Date form, (located in CENTER 311) and attach it to the exam(s). Write the pull date in the upper right hand corner of the exam(s).

Include the following information on the exam and/or scantron:

Student's name, Instructor's name, Course number, Exam number.

Completed exams will be ready for pick up in CENTER 311 on the day after the deadline, unless a prior arrangement is made with the ITS Testing Coordinator.
