Classified Formal Leave Backfill

The Classified Contract (Article 3.3.4.2) states that "an hourly classified employee may exceed the 1039 hour limitation to backfill a contracted position when a contracted classified employee is on specific forms of officially approved leave including a formal medical leave or has been recalled to active military duty for a period in excess of fourteen days...This exemption is limited to 120 working days from the time the contracted classified employee begins the approved medical leave regardless of the hours that the hourly classified employee has worked in the college."

If you have an hourly classified employee who will be backfilling a contracted position when the contracted employee is on one of these specific forms of leave (for no more than 120 working days from the beginning of the leave), you will process a personnel action form.  The PAF should be completed as you would normally complete a PAF for an hourly hire.  In the Comments Section of the PAF, you will indicate that the employee is backfilling a position for a classified employee on a formal leave and what the "normal" Schedule, Level and Step should be for the employee (which will match the hourly Amount to be Paid on the PAF).
