General Characteristics:

To provide audiovisual support to the campus. Responsible for coordinating audiovisual equipment and systems and needs requirements for the College.
 

Examples of Work:

Circulate audiovisual equipment and materials when work study and part-time employees are unavailable.

Coordinate and oversee the equipment lockers, and multi-media projectors in all classrooms and labs.

Provide technical instruction on the proper operation and use of audiovisual equipment on a one-to-one or one-to-may basis.

Perform preventive maintenance and needed repairs on audiovisual equipment. Repairs may be shifted to the staff of Electronic Services when such repairs are beyond the time constraints, skills, and scope of this position.

Supervise the circulation of audiovisual equipment and materials by part-time personnel and work-study students.

Handle all scheduling of equipment and material orders received from faculty, staff, and students via telephone, written request, email and personal contacts.

Coordinate and perform special equipment setups, including public address and multimedia setups, for College activities and special events.

Maintain records system of equipment placement, logistics of a continual equipment inventory, and temporary and department loan utilizing database software. Keep records of internal supplies, such as projection lamps; determine supply needs; place orders to maintain stock levels.

Process all new audiovisual equipment and materials; establish and maintain inventory tracking records using manual and computerized methods.

Conduct ongoing, campus-wide equipment inspections, both visual and operational, to determine whether operational deficiencies exist.

Determine new portable equipment and systems requirements for the College.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:
Audiovisual equipment operation, set up and troubleshooting; computer hardware and software operation; photographic theory and procedures; public address system operation; acoustic theory; video and RF theory and how theory relates to practical application.
 

Skill in:
Correctly operating all tools, machinery, and equipment required by this position; the use of a microcomputer.
 

Ability to:
Troubleshoot equipment problems; function in high activity and noise conditions; maintain inventory records and equipment schedules; use a computerized database for input and retrieval of information on equipment; perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of equipment; transport equipment; ability to plan work assignments and set priorities; work under pressure and meet tight dead-lines; o operate tools and equipment safely; ability to work effectively with students, staff, and community people; communicate effectively orally and in writing; organize and plan work so that commitments and deadlines are met; keep accurate records; work safely.
 

Supervision:
Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Manager of Technology Support Services. Assignments are received in the form of basic guidelines with the employee expected to work independently towards the attainment of department goals and objectives. Work is reviewed by the supervisor through verbal updates and periodic conferences for progress towards program goals. How to perform video production is the responsibility of the employee, so long as work is performed according to established policies or as outlined by rules and regulations; work is reviewed periodically to assure conformance with established policies and to measure results.

This position assigns tasks and priorities, trains and checks the work of assigned staff and work study students, and is available to answer questions or troubleshoot problems on a daily basis.
 

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in a technical field or a related field
Experience: Three (3) years of maintaining and operating audiovisual equipment and systems.

Equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered qualifying.
