Life Insurance - Cigna

The College pays for $50,000 of basic life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance for management employees.

Optional Dependent Life Insurance - Cigna

There is an optional dependent life insurance benefit available, separate from the voluntary life insurance detailed below, that pays a flat $2,000 benefit in the event of the death of a covered spouse/partner or dependent child. The current cost to the employee for this benefit is $0.92 per month regardless of the number of insured dependents.

Voluntary Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance - Cigna

In addition to the College paid basic life insurance benefit and optional dependent life insurance benefit, management employees have the option of purchasing voluntary life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment insurance for themselves and spouse or domestic partner. Additionally, voluntary life insurance may be purchased for dependent children. The option to purchase voluntary life insurance is available to all new hires within the first 31 days of employment or to all benefit eligible management employees during the annual open enrollment period. (Evidence of Insurability may be required during the annual open enrollment period.)

Upon hire, an employee can enroll in up to $100,000 of voluntary life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance without the requirement of answering health questions. Furthermore, an employee can enroll in up to $30,000 of voluntary life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance on his/her spouse/partner without the requirement of answering health questions. Dependent child voluntary life insurance is also available for up to $10,000 in coverage.

The cost of coverage is included in the Voluntary Life and AD&D Brochure below. Cost is based upon age and does increase over time.

During the annual open enrollment period, an employee or spouse/partner that currently has this voluntary benefit can increase the coverage amount by one (1) unit without the requirement of answering health questions. Additionally, all benefit eligible management employees have the option of applying to add this coverage or applying to increase existing coverage beyond one (1) unit with the completion of a health questionnaire (Evidence of Insurability form).

For employees, one (1) unit of coverage is $10,000 and for an employee's spouse/partner, one (1) unit of coverage is $5,000.

Long Term Disability - Cigna

The College pays for a basic long term disability insurance benefit for management employees.  The basic benefit pays up to 66.67% of the first $3000 of gross monthly salary. Employees have the option of purchasing the buy-up benefit, which pays up to 66.67% of the first $10,000 of gross monthly salary. The current cost for the buy-up benefit is 0.24% of gross monthly salary. The option to purchase the buy-up benefit is available to all new hires within the first 31 days of employment or to all benefit eligible management employees during the annual open enrollment period. (Evidence of Insurability may be required during the annual open enrollment period.)
