Notes:
- Summer 2016-17: Computer Information Systems/Health Informatics AAS degree and Health Information Technology Career Pathway Certificate are being suspended. The Database Specialist Career Pathway Certificate will move under Computer Programming. The Business/CIT dean and Health Professions dean have decided to move HI courses within this program to the Health Professions department.
- Learning Council: This council has a standing curriculum item on its agenda so Tammy can report on any Curriculum Committee items.
Department | Curriculum | Title | Type of Proposal | Action |
Social Science | SOC 228 | Introduction to Environmental Sociology | New Course | Approved |
Other Committee Business:
Under AAS Degree:
- The committee discussed and agreed that Professional Technical courses will no longer be accepted to meet Foundational Skills or Discipline Studies requirement.
- The criteria to meet the Human Relations requirement was updated last year (2015/16) but it was not in time to meet the curriculum deadlines to enforce it for the 2016/17 academic year. There will be a number of courses that did not meet the new requirements and will be coming off the list starting in 2017/18
Approval process for 199/299 experimental courses:
Experimental courses will be required to have curriculum committee approval as do permanent courses before being offered.
Committee Charter:
Melanie, Tammy, Phil and Siv will work on the charter this summer and bring a draft to the October 18 meeting.
Grandfathering courses:
There are currently no state guidelines regarding grandfathering of courses for AAOT. Therefore if a course that was approved for the AAOT list, but is no longer offered it will be removed from the catalog, however we will still honor the course unless the course content has dramatically changed.
Decrease in course credits and contact hours:
When a department decreases the credits and contact hours on a course it is required to come to the committee for review and approval.
Committee appointments and meeting times for 2016-17
Need to ensure members can make the meetings as it seems wednesdays are not working for everyones schedules any longer. Tammy will send out a doodle poll to members to set up a new day/tme for meetings.
Would be beneficial to have representation from Advanced Technology and Health Professions
Curriculum form project update and discussion:
Jerry Meenaghan and Matt Danskin will be working on the form over the summer and will have a draft to bring the committee at the October 18 meeting
