Students in natural science, engineering, mathematics, or computer science majors have the best chance for selection; however, students in related disciplines who demonstrate interests and capabilities in research areas available at the participating laboratories may also be appointed.

A weekly stipend of $425 is provided for the duration of the internship. Round trip costs are provided for students who live more than 50 miles from their designated internship site (some restrictions may apply; see website for transportation reimbursement information). All awards are made on an annual basis and are non-renewable.
