Conflict of Interest

Lane Community College Foundation believes that it is important for scholarship readers to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest while reviewing applications and conducting any other selection committee business. Readers must be able to score and rate applicants without potential or perceived influence caused by a conflict of interest. Readers must evaluate the eligibility of applicants without bias and make their ratings based on the established objective criteria.

A conflict of interest can occur when an action of a reader or donor results in a direct financial benefit to a person closely related to the donor or reader. A conflict of interest may also occur if a reader scores the applicant without considering objective criteria for the scholarship.

  1. No readers or members of the scholarship selection committee shall be eligible to apply for assistance from the scholarship fund.
  2. If a family member of a reader or member of the scholarship selection committee has applied for assistance, that person will declare a conflict of interest and will not participate during the review and selection process.  (“Family member” is defined as spouse, parent, child, stepchild, adopted child, niece, nephew, grandchild, step grandchild, or in-law.)
  3. Current Lane students (or those graduating in the past 24 months), Lane faculty and staff are not eligible to review scholarships.

Thank you for your interest in being a LCC Scholarship Volunteer!
