Purpose:

This procedure describes the responsibilities of department managers and Human Resources for monitoring workloads of hourly classified employees. Workload limits are established in the classified contract for classified employees who are employed on an hourly or timesheet basis rather than in budgeted positions.

Narrative:

Workload limits are established in the classified contract for classified employees who are employed on an hourly or timesheet basis rather than in budgeted positions.  Each department administrator is responsible for monitoring the total hours worked by all hourly ('04' account) classified employees in that department and ensuring that workload limits are not exceeded.

Human Resources distributes monthly time and hours reports to support the department monitoring process.  For assistance reading and using this report, contact Human Resources.

In exceptional circumstances, a department administrator may request pre-authorization for an hourly employee to exceed the workload limit. This request must be submitted to the appropriate vice president for approval. Approval to exceed the contractual workload limit does not waive the employee's contractual rights nor the college's contractual obligations to the employee.
