This procedure details the certification standards, responsibility for development, and the role of Human Resources when advertising for new contracted faculty positions.

Narrative:

Instructor certification standards shall be developed for all career technical, college transfer, Academic Learning Skills and Adult Basic Education (ABE), General Educational Development (GED), and English as a Second Language (ESL) courses. These standards must adhere to the minimums prescribed in Instructor Qualifications: Credit. It is the responsibility of the department to develop and periodically review these standards, in collaboration with departmental faculty and other experts, and to submit these standards to the Executive Dean and Vice President for review and approval.

Instructor certification standards shall be developed for all new courses and faculty shall be certified according to these standards, before new courses are offered. In certain instances, the Vice President may choose to grant temporary approval to an instructor, contingent upon the development of final standards.

Human Resources shall be responsible for ensuring that the appropriate instructor certification standards are included in position advertisements for all contracted faculty positions.
